Legalizing Marijuana

One of our classmates wrote this and posted it on open forum:

During one of the most serious budget situations in our state's history there is a great need for innovative solutions to alleviate the pressure on our economy. This week, Assembly Bill 390 was introduced, proposing the regulation and taxation of our largest cash crop - Marijuana. Please take just a minute of your time to email the CA representative of your choice and tell them that you support this progressive move towards a safe-and-sane cannabis policy. Just follow this link, and don't forget to visit CSUMB NORML's First class forum in the Student Organizations section of Conferences.

I will be truthful I didn't go to the site and check it out, because I do not believe that legalizing Marijuana will be good for society or our country, what will it say to other countries that are trying to stop drug trafficking and drug addictions among it’s people, if we as one of the most powerful countries of the World –legalizes Marijuana. I know that some people in the generation/age group as myself—believe that if we are to legalize it then it will take away the want for the younger generation to want to smoke pot, since it’s will no longer be a crime if legalized, where’s the adventure in trying not to get caught doing something your not suppose to. There’d be no fun it! But I believe they are wrong-it will just encourage our youth to try more hard elicit drugs! Like Coke and Heroin! I could be wrong, but since it’s still legal to drink under the age of 21, most kids that die from drinking are under the age of 21. Die while binge drinking or during a hazing party and most are under the age of 21. Those who drink also do other elicit drugs and not just Marijuana. Remember guys, back in the day when I was in my teens, actually when I was 18—it was legal to drink and most of my friends that drank did other elicit drugs and not just Marijuana—I on the other hand seen so many of those same kids die before they enter High School. I lost about 35 – 40 of my Jr. High School friends mainly male friends to either alcohol and or both drugs and alcohol combinations. I’d just like for all of you to think about the ramifications –the long range ramifications if Marijuana is legalized, because sure even though you might think it would be great now—someday you all will become parents and you might not necessarily want your daughter or son do some of the same things you did as a young college student. I got lucky with all three of my daughters they saw what alcohol and smoking cigarettes did to my health as I got older, drinking prematurely aged me and smoking-- will I know have a severe case of asthma and a slight case of emphysema, the lucky part comes in that none of my girls are drinkers or cig smokers and none did drugs. And sure you say how do, I know that they never tried drugs—because they knew if I ever found out they’d be dead in a heart beat. LOL!!!!! And it obvious that I don't support the this bill or the legalization of any form of elicit drug and just the fact that one of our politicians would even introduce such a bill for consideration is beyond words. My only suggestion is that if you agree with write, text, email call your CA representatives and tell them not support such an outlandish bill as this one. And I apologize right now if I happen to offend anyone, by my comments. From one concerned parent/student, to the future leaders, teachers, bankers, CEO’s, politicians of our Planet!

group assignments

I agree with you that instructors who assign group work or projects expect that everyone has either done their part of the work or has contributed like everyone else, but that sometimes is just not the case. And even though I'd like to rat them out, I don't because then I feel really bad about someone not getting a good grade, and I think it also reflects badly on me as well, what does it say about my character. The other reason I don't rat is because that particular day or week might have been a really bad one, I don't know it! Sometimes this happens to me, I might be experiencing or having a really bad week and am just not up to doing the work that week. I try to do what everyone else in my group did, but sometimes it's just not to their standards and I will apologize for not giving it my all.
