Not sure when we are suppose to stop posting to this site, but this is my last and final posting!
I hope you all had a great year in HCOM 310, because it was very enlightening to me, especially because it gave me a new understanding and a different perspective of what you younger students think about. Some of you guy's posting were extremely deep and meaningful, I just hope that whenever you read my--you might of thought the same thing. What I would've of really like to seen done with the blogging--is that we each had to comment to everyone's blog page at least once during the semester--that way at least everyone would have had one comment on their blog page. But again I hope everyone has a great summer--hope to see you next fall semester and to those of you graduating or moving on to other schools --the best of luck to you in whatever you choose to do!

College Experience ! !
the end of the semester seems to have come to a near draw, as I sit hear and ponder exactly what will I do this summer--I realize that I have so many opportunities get plenty of work done before my travels to Cuba happens. I know most of you plan on going home for the summer and working at some part time job making money to spend on things you deem important to you. Other's of you will stay here and work and work is important especially if you are trying to make ends meet--in today's economy! But when the next semester starts think about what it is you are going to do to improve your resume while at CSUMB! What I mean--apply for internships, do volunteer work on campus or apply for the many opportunities afforded to you all by the university--such as Otter leaders, student government leaders, RA/CA's--because believe it or not most jobs and graduate schools look at what you did while achieving that BA's degree and it's not all about the grades-sure they help but they want to know if you will make a good supervisor, leader or even team player. So this summer think about what else you can do while on campus in the Fall semester to improve your resume for the future!

Traveling to Cuba
This summer I will travel with Pastors for Peace to Cuba to help rebuild an area of the country that was devastated by last years Hurricane. I think it is our responsibility as students to participate and get involved in what happens to people around the world and not just locally! I can't wait till July 1st arrives, because the journey of a lifetime will began and I am going to document every moment of it with photography and by writing into journals of what I am learning not only about myself but about others. I am a bit concern though because we will be traveling through Mexico in order to fly from Tampico, Mexico into Cuba, especially with the scare of this swine flu. My concern is that the organization I am traveling with will decide to cancel the trip to Cuba via Mexico because the impact of the swine flu will not have diminished by then. I am not in lest concern about getting the flu, I believe that if you take precautions before hand such as the flu shot and wearing masks and also insuring that before one travels to be in good health, so that you aren't liable to become sick. On the other hand I only have to contend with family and in-laws who believe that my traveling to Cuba is a wrong thing for me to do considering my age. I believe my age has nothing to do with it--I should be able to travel and do volunteer work in other places--like Cuba. My mother, sister and brother believe that if I travel to Cuba--my husband will divorce and leave me. My in-laws believe that I am being unfair to my husband my asking him to help me pay for this venture. We have tried telling them both my my husband isn't leaving me or divorcing me and telling my in-law that we are not paying for the entire trip--we are doing some fundraising and will get assistance to help pay for the trip. So my question to you guys is do you think that because of my age I should stay home and not do this type of volunteer work in Cuba?

CSUMB Internships
I am really disappointed in the way this particular University Administrators and Staff perceive students who are not deemed the norm--what I mean by that they are not the traditional student--for one they are over 25 yrs of age and they made the conscience choice to return back to school to either finish their degree or to update it because their job's demanded it. The Administrators on this campus say that any student can apply for any internship position but in fact sure they can that doesn't necessarily mean they will get it--mostly because we are not the type of student that CSUMB wants representing it. In other words we have very strong opinions on how school systems and even on how government should or should not be run by our government leaders. We've experienced things that most 20-30 yrs olds have not yet imagined and considering that we are on our last leg--meaning that we don't have as many good years ahead of us as a 20 yr old does and considering that the traditional students are seen as our future leaders they are the only ones chosen for these prestigous internships.
I have numerous of years of experience in both leadership, volunteer and work, but aside from all that I am quite eager to take on any task asked of me. Sure I'm 52 but my age should not be a factor nor should the fact that I am married, my children are all grown and married and my husband is very supportive of any decision I make to futher my educational dreams.
So why is it year after year that I have applied for the Panetta Congressional Internship it has always gone to a student who by their own account has had no past leadership, and not much volunteer or work experience get the position. You guys might find it hard to believe it really itsn't what you know or do but more on the line of who you know that will get you into the internships or jobs of your choice in life.
This invaluable lesson has been a hard one for me to learn, simply because I try to believe that all people have some good in them and they see the person who they are and what they have accomplished and not based upon their age or how it will appear to the outside world if they sent a much older student to represent CSUMB.
But we will see how this process proceeds this year, considering some of the people that I have interviewed with in the past are no longer here, will I again get selected from all the applicants as one of the final three to be interviewed or will I not be selected to the final three and if I am selected as one of the final three--will I be selected as next year's 09-10 Panetta Congressional Intern to represent CSUMB--I doubt it!

Obama orders review of New York City flyover
The other day some idiot from or within the military decided it would be a good idea to have Air Force One fly extremely low over New York City and while they were at it to have the plane followed by a jet--supposedly to do a photo op in regards to the Presidential aircraft. If I was a citizen of New York--my first thoughts would be that some other high rise building was going to be hit like the Twin Towers had been in 2001. According to the story the director of the White House Military office, Louis Caldera on Monday had official taken responsibility for the incident.
You guys will forgive me for calling this person an idiot, but what would ever make this person think this idea was a good idea to do, considering how we as Americans feel about 9/11--in regards to low-flying airplanes. So how did this story affect you or how did it make you feel about lack of respect for those families who lost loved ones in 9/11. In a time where there is a very real lack of economic security, was it especially a good idea to spend money so wastefully by a low-flying photo op with Air Force One.
In the story one person stated this "Gibbs said that the review would likely take about a week or so to complete. He said he would have to confer with White House lawyers before answering a question about whether the results would be made public." What I want to know is how you guys feel about why it necessarily needs to take a week to find out why this occurred and do you all feel that the report for the reasons should or should not be made public. Isn't this one of those cases in which our Federal Government should not be allowed to use some guise as not to report why these kinds of mistakes are made by public officials? Also, why do they need to ask an attorney if they can report such incidents to the general population especially the population of New York City, where the incident occurred?

Autism Awareness
So how many of you are aware that April 2nd was Autism Awareness Day and April is Autism Awareness Month! This subject is very dear to my heart as I have two grandchildren with Autism. My youngest granddaughter has some form of Asperger Autism and my oldest grandson has the characteristics of Asperger Autism. Doctors believe that in some instances where there are more than one child showing signs of having this particular type of Autism it is genetic. We have yet to find the link that connects the genetics from either me or one of my parents to my grandchildren.
Here is some basic information about Asperger syndrome that I thought might interest you guys and did you know that 1 out of every 150 children will be diagnosed with some form of Autism or will be Autistic. Down below I have included several sites one can go to get more information or to volunteer at an Autism event.
Asperger syndrome (also called Asperger's syndrome, Asperger's disorder, Asperger's or AS) is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and people with AS therefore show significant difficulties in social interaction and restricted, stereotyped patterns of behavior and interests. AS differs from other ASDs by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not mentioned in standard diagnostic criteria, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported.[1][2]
Asperger syndrome is named after Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy

Obama's and Cuba
I was really glad to see that President Obama was keeping in part to his word about lifting some of the travel restrictions for Cuban-Americans who wanted to travel back and forth from the US to Cuba more than once every three years. The Bush administration as the well as the previous administrations have not allowed Cuban-Americans to visit their family members much less send American dollars home to help their love ones their.
I am glad to see that we finally have a President in office that has some brains (and that's not the word I wanted to use) and has figured out that Cuba and Fidel and Raul Castro are not out to destroy or bomb the US and that the Cuban people should not be punished for what Fidel Castro did in the very beginning of his Presidency in Cuba and 50 years have passed and President Obama realizes that if we are to rebuild the United States to it's rightful glory as the #1 super power country we must be willing to build bridges between those countries that according to past leaders would be willing to do the US harm. Cuba has not shown in the past 50 years that it was going to every bomb the United States, no I'm not saying that if they had not had the assistance of other countries and the necessary equipment that it wouldn't have made an attempt to bomb us and I'm sure they tried when Fidel was President, but realise I don't believe Fidel ever got his ideas off the planning stages into the development stages. Of course I haven't done the entire research--I'm just basing my assumptions on what I have read so far and what I haven't seen Castro and Cuba do in the last 50 years--realize I am 52 years old so I have been around while.
Again, I am just glad that the travel restrictions have been lifted in regards to American, Cuban-Americans traveling back and forth to Cuba is now gone.

pornography!!!!
Last week we discussed a very heated topic PORNOGRAPHY! We discussed and debated whether or not this should be protected under the 1st Amendment right. Again maybe it's just because I am much older that I have a different view point than everyone else in class did. I just don't get it, why men in general and somewhere studies show that men are usually the culprits who develop and go to see adult/child pornography. I poised that particular question to all three of my brothers-two of my brothers are in their mid-forties and the other is nearly 60; they all had the same view point--that as long as what they were viewing had or did no physical impact upon the two consent adults this type of porn should be protected under the 1st Amendment, but they all agreed that when it came to anyone abusing a child no matter the child's age, because as one of my brother's put it-even a teenager under the age of 18 his/her mental cognitive understanding is still developing and any type of porn having to do with children/teenagers up to age 18 should not be protected under the 1st Amendment.
I don't know how many of you ever watch the Oprah show, but on Monday's show they had a segment about child pornography in Florida and they raid the home of man they believed to not only be distributing but also downloading child pornography, after the police and the ATF had gone in and raid the home they realized the man was not the one downloading the porn but it was his 17 or 18 year old high school son. But that alone is not distubing what brothered me was that they released the young man--told him he'd be schooled in other location away from other children, but they allowed him to go back home in which he had younger brothers and sisters living in the home--that makes no sense to whatever. Believe me if I had been this boy's parent I certainly would not have allowed him back into my home, especially if I had younger children--considering the degree of the pornography they found on this young man's computers and he had several computers and the porn was not only graphic but very explicit and disgusting even to listen to. The police described on the Oprah show what this man was viewing and downloading to sell--but I don't know about you--I wouldn't want to see a child of age 10 girl or boy having sex with animal of anykind --that's the kind of stuff he had on his computers.
My question to you--is since doctors, psychartist and others say that the brain of child does not finish developing until after he turns age 18 and since I'm not sure if he was 17 or 18 when arrested. Should this young man be held accountable for his actions--since in today's society doctors like Dr. Phil say that the brain does not complete it's cognitive development until after age 18--I believe that's what I heard him say on his show one day. Should he be protected under the 1st amendment because technically his is not really an adult or should he be found guilty and be labeled a sex offender?

WalMart Crisis!
Well at least according to some students on campus there seems to some type of crisis concerning how the employees of Walmart are or are not being treated. I for one who just happens to shop at Walmart out of necessity, have spoken to several of Walmarts employees and just like any retail employee their are things that corporation/executives do that will not agree with every employee, even the one's I talked to and with whom I am friends with. Don't get me wrong I am in no favor of the practices Walmart has in regards to it's overseas employment practices but K-mart, Sears, Khols and every other major retail dept store use the same practices its just not so wildly heard about.
You must also take with a grain of salt--everything that it written over the net--look deeper at why the person is on the net complaining about Walmart--what happened to make this person so disagreeable with Walmart. Did this employee do something he/she wasn't suppose to do and they got caught and then fired. There's always two sides to every story written on the net.
According to my friends that work for walmart they don't dislike walmart or its practices but in today's economy having a job with some health benefits is better than having no job with no health benefits at all.

Giving the LIFE of Blood!
I don't know if you all watched the show called, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" episode featuring Lizzie when it aired on SUNDAY, MARCH 22, on the ABC Television Network. The story line was about a young fourteen year old girl named Lizzie Bell and she depends on these regular blood transfusions for her survival. The show worked with the American Red Cross across America to raise awareness about the need for people to donate blood, because according to the stats on average, 39,000 blood donations are needed each day across the United States to treat injuries and illnesses. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" chose Lizzie and her family to be the lucky recipients of a brand new home to honor the young hero and to shine a spotlight on the importance of ongoing blood donation.
Some general information about blood donations that you might not know and then of course there's the info on how to get in touch with the Red Cross and so that if you decide to donate you can do so.
About the American Red Cross: The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization -- not a government agency -- and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission. HELP--Feed AMERICA!!!
I’m going to get on my soap-box, so bare with me. I just love these non-profit organizations that want you the TV-viewer to send your money to some poor children who are starving in some poor country. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t hesitate to send money to them, but I think these non-profit organizations need to ask us the television viewer to send our money to help feed the children and families who are starving right here in the United States, everyday hundreds of children, women and men go hungry and there aren’t enough soup kitchens and there isn’t enough money in these soup kitchens to feed everyone 3 times a day, 7 days a week, or 365 days a year.
And one of the many reasons these families go hungry in the United States is because of companies like the Big 3 automakers, and K-Mart, JC Penny, Sears and yes—even Walmart who outsource the products they make to poor countries where the labor is cheap! And we as a society in general need to stop expecting to payless for better quality merchandize. We want more for less and yet we still expect people to perform work for less pay and yet at the same time don't seem to mind if College baseball, football and basketball players demand huge-huge-large amounts of money in order to play a game and to entertain us. I think it's ridicious to pay someone 10 million dollars just to entertain us in a game of football, basketball, baseball, or even golf. Even though Michael Phelps did not initally receive any money in order to perform as well as he did in the Olympics--he did recieve huge amounts of money in endorsements after he won his gold medals and look at what has happened to him. The same could be said for CEO's, Presidents, Executives who receive big salaries on top of the big bonus' they receive for either saving the company money or by saving investors money and by keeping stocks from dropping. Believe me if I were hired by AIG today to be there CEO and I had the qualifications to do the job--I would do it for a lot less than the one currently employed by AIG--I would be happy to have the job and do it for about million salary, but then of course there comes the taxes one has to pay for having that high paying job and I'm not sure I would want to make that much money.

George W. Bush to write memoir about 'decisions'
I am sorry if this is going to sound kind of cynical about our last President but if there ever was a book that I never wanted to read it certainly would not want to read his memoirs or any book that First Lady Bush wrote. I'm not sure why ex-President George W. Bush would even think anyone would be interested in reading anything he had to write, much less want to understand why he made the decisions he did. No explanation he could ever make would ever justify what he did. I feel that he could make all sorts of excuses to justify his and his administrations actions and it still will not change the fact that he ran our economy and our nation into the ground. Here is a quote that was written by the Associated Press from ex-President Bush's office in Dallas-"I want people to understand the environment in which I was making decisions. I want people to get a sense of how decisions were made and I want people to understand the options that were placed before me."
Let me say that I didn't vote for him for President and I certainly didn't vote for him when he ran for Governor of Texas and what I didn't understand and still don't understand is why the people of Texas after 8 years of having to deal with him as Governor, why they would ever resort to putting him into office not once but twice as President. What I don't get is why he thinks he needs to explain or why he believes we as a society need to understand the environment in which he made the decisions he made, as if we were asleep or not living in the good old USA.
I'm just sorely disappointed in the fact that a book publisher would pay an enormous amount of money to even consider publishing his or first lady Bush's book, based on the pretext that it will become a best seller. I only hope that I didn't offend anyone who happens to believe that ex-President Bush was a good/great leader and who just happens to be a Republican.

Turning 50 yrs old- & No Jobs in Sight!
I know that this subject doesn't really affect many of you, but it does affect your parents! It isn't easy to start over at any age, especially after you've turned 50 yrs. old, because there are added challenges older workers will face. I only hope that when you all become 50 yrs old there will be an overabundance of jobs available to you!
I know what its like to past 50 and wonder if there will be any available jobs once I graduate from this University and I have come to the conclusion that I must enter into a field that will not discriminate against me because of my age. That’s why I chose to go to Law School and I am considering getting my teaching degree in a single subject like government/politics and teach at the Jr./High School or College level. I was reading an article in the newspaper that was talking about how scary it will be to be 50 yrs old and have to start over in the job market, especially with the economy being what it is and so many businesses’s closing down.
The reason I bring the subject up, is do you all think that President Obama should put some kind of restrictions on companies taking there business’s and outsourcing them to countries like Japan, Indonesia, Mexico where labor is cheaper instead of keeping those business here in the United States so that people who over the age of 50 won’t be fired or laid off because the company pays them a much higher salary and it’s either cheaper to fire them or easier to replace them with someone younger who will work for less money.
I personally think it would be good for the economy if President Obama imposed some type of restrictions or sanctions on corporations/business’s that were inclined to move there companies aboard and close plants down here in the U.S., which would in turn create a great deal of hardship on the economy and society in general.
I’m going to get on my soap-box again, so bare with me. I just love these non-profit organizations that want you the TV-viewer to send your money to some poor children who are starving in some poor country. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t hesitate to send money to them, but I think these non-profit organizations need to ask us the television viewer to send our money to help feed the children who are starving right here in the United States, everyday hundreds of children, women and men go hungry and there aren’t enough soup kitchens and there isn’t enough money in these soup kitchens to feed everyone 3 times a day, 7 days a week, or 365 days a year. And one of the many reasons these families go hungry in the United States is because of companies like the Big 3 automakers, and K-Mart, JC Penny, Sears and yes—even Walmart outsource the products they make to poor countries where the labor is cheap! And we as a society in general need to stop expecting to payless for better quality merchandize. I also think that if we as a whole society decided to stop buying or purchasing foreign made products this could impact the companies in a big way—some of you are to young to remember a slogan or ad that ran almost daily on the TV back—might have been in the early 70’s & 80’s – it simply stated “Made In America or U.S.A.” So the next time you decide to go and vote ask your congressman/woman and legislatures what are they going to do to improve your chances of succeeding in Corporate America even after you’ve turned 50 yrs of age.

Abusive Men & Relationships
Have you all been watching the TV or reading on the web about what’s been happening with Rhinna and her boyfriend/spouse and his abusive behavior towards her. The reason I bring this subject to light is again here we are in a very public world, where in the media—like Oprah, Dr. Phil in the next coming day’s they will be discussing why women like Rhinna will take back the husband/boyfriend after he has reportedly beaten her. It isn’t a question of why can’t she leave or that she won’t leave. What society still doesn’t get that’s not that she can’t or won’t leave him, it’s that she’s terrified to leave him. I know I was in a very abusive relationship—and my family asked the same question why didn’t I just leave or call the police and report his abusive behavior—sometimes when you call the police and they arrest him, because in some States if you rent or own a house with a spouse or even a boyfriend if his name is on the lease—he has just much right to be in the apt as the woman does, especially even after he gets out of jail.
The police can ask him to leave or see if the woman wants to leave, but with the man there holding on to her—she won’t leave for fear that he will kill her and some women who do leave end up dead. How many of you in class think it’s just that easy for a woman to walk away from an abusive relationship! Let me tell you for experience it’s not that easy—for one he has manipulated her into believing that without him, no one in this world will ever want her and he’s got her believing that she can’t survive without him and that no one but him loves her and if she’d just not do the things he asked her to do he’d never have to hit her. He’s convinced her that it’s her fault and she’s bought into it and she’ll be the first to apologize after he’s hit her and he never will say he’s sorry—what he will say is if you’d just done the dishes, or had dinner on the table when it got home-I wouldn’t had to hit you!
She also believes that if she’d only done what was asked instead of talking back to him or if she’d just not started a confrontation with him, he’d never hit her. Women who are in a abusive relationships walk around on pins & needles—sort of like on egg shells feeling around the men they live with, and we are afraid of opening our mouths to say anything for fear of being berated or beaten within an inch of our lives. Two if he hasn’t already tried to kill her, he will try to do it and sometimes succeed if she does leave him. As in my case all these things occurred my ex-spouse not only tried once but three times to kill me and on the third try was arrested for the last time before he was due to go to trial for attempted murder he fled the state, he was finally caught and now sits in a prison, he got 25 to life and I believe he has to serve a 25 years before his eligible for parole.
I guess what just pisses me off most is that society as a whole thinks it just that simple—all a woman has to do it leave, in reality it really isn’t that simple at all—it’s more complicated than that. What some people in our society don’t understand is that—the physical abuse doesn’t initially start with the hitting—it starts with the verbal abuse and then escalates to the physical abuse.
So girls if you’re in a relationship with a guy and he hits you just once-leave immediately before he really gets his hooks into and you can’t leave and what I mean by that is once he hits you and you don’t leave then you actually have given him permission at least in his mind to continue hitting you whenever he wants too! I don’t mean to imply that you have given him permission to hit but he believes you have because hit you once said he was sorry and it won’t happen again and you didn’t leave immediately—in his mind that was his go-ahead to do it again and again, whenever he fells like it—after all you won’t dare leave now! If he is talking trash and is verbally abusive—leave before he starts hitting you! Sorry about getting on my soap-box!

Obama overturns Bush policy on stem cells
I personally thought it was ridiculous that Bush would limit the use of taxpayer money only to the 21 stem cell lines produced before he implemented his policy on stem cell research in 2001. I am grateful that President Obama is keeping his word and undoing what Bush had done and research can begin to help the many ailing people who suffer from diabetes to paralysis, much like I do. Even though it doesn’t look like I have a form of paralysis. I have two unknown causes or types of paralysis’s both are in my face and body. So for me the use of stem cell research to find cures that will help someone like me better deal or handle the paralysis that has been dealtto me seems like an obvious choice for President Obama to implement. For me doctors still have no clue why my left/right side of my face crashes/slides sort of a like I’m having a stroke, but not having one at all. Maybe with the research being done on stem cells, doctors might learn how to best handle or hopefully find a cure to my disorders; which could give me a new lease on life at least one without pain medication and possibly free of pain. So how do you guys feel about President Obama reversing what Bush signed into law back in 2001? I’ve also included the article for you to read and the website if you want further info about it.
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Monday he is allowing federal taxpayer dollars to fund significantly broader research on embryonic stem cells because "medical miracles do not happen simply by accident," and promised his administration would make up for the ground lost under his predecessor.
Fulfilling a campaign promise, Obama signed an executive order expected to set in motion increased research that supporters believe could uncover cures for serious ailments from diabetes to paralysis. Obama's action, before a packed East Room audience, reverses former President George W. Bush's policy on stem cell research by undoing a 2001 directive that banned federal funding for research into stem lines created
Bush limited the use of taxpayer money to only the 21 stem cell lines that had been produced before his decision. He argued he was defending human life because days-old embryos — although typically from fertility clinics and already destined for destruction — are destroyed to create the stem cell lines.

Legalizing Marijuana
One of our classmates wrote this and posted it on open forum:
During one of the most serious budget situations in our state's history there is a great need for innovative solutions to alleviate the pressure on our economy. This week, Assembly Bill 390 was introduced, proposing the regulation and taxation of our largest cash crop - Marijuana. Please take just a minute of your time to email the CA representative of your choice and tell them that you support this progressive move towards a safe-and-sane cannabis policy. Just follow this link, and don't forget to visit CSUMB NORML's First class forum in the Student Organizations section of Conferences.

I will be truthful I didn't go to the site and check it out, because I do not believe that legalizing Marijuana will be good for society or our country, what will it say to other countries that are trying to stop drug trafficking and drug addictions among it’s people, if we as one of the most powerful countries of the World –legalizes Marijuana. I know that some people in the generation/age group as myself—believe that if we are to legalize it then it will take away the want for the younger generation to want to smoke pot, since it’s will no longer be a crime if legalized, where’s the adventure in trying not to get caught doing something your not suppose to. There’d be no fun it! But I believe they are wrong-it will just encourage our youth to try more hard elicit drugs! Like Coke and Heroin! I could be wrong, but since it’s still legal to drink under the age of 21, most kids that die from drinking are under the age of 21. Die while binge drinking or during a hazing party and most are under the age of 21. Those who drink also do other elicit drugs and not just Marijuana. Remember guys, back in the day when I was in my teens, actually when I was 18—it was legal to drink and most of my friends that drank did other elicit drugs and not just Marijuana—I on the other hand seen so many of those same kids die before they enter High School. I lost about 35 – 40 of my Jr. High School friends mainly male friends to either alcohol and or both drugs and alcohol combinations. I’d just like for all of you to think about the ramifications –the long range ramifications if Marijuana is legalized, because sure even though you might think it would be great now—someday you all will become parents and you might not necessarily want your daughter or son do some of the same things you did as a young college student. I got lucky with all three of my daughters they saw what alcohol and smoking cigarettes did to my health as I got older, drinking prematurely aged me and smoking-- will I know have a severe case of asthma and a slight case of emphysema, the lucky part comes in that none of my girls are drinkers or cig smokers and none did drugs. And sure you say how do, I know that they never tried drugs—because they knew if I ever found out they’d be dead in a heart beat. LOL!!!!! And it obvious that I don't support the this bill or the legalization of any form of elicit drug and just the fact that one of our politicians would even introduce such a bill for consideration is beyond words. My only suggestion is that if you agree with write, text, email call your CA representatives and tell them not support such an outlandish bill as this one. And I apologize right now if I happen to offend anyone, by my comments. From one concerned parent/student, to the future leaders, teachers, bankers, CEO’s, politicians of our Planet!

group assignments
I agree with you that instructors who assign group work or projects expect that everyone has either done their part of the work or has contributed like everyone else, but that sometimes is just not the case. And even though I'd like to rat them out, I don't because then I feel really bad about someone not getting a good grade, and I think it also reflects badly on me as well, what does it say about my character. The other reason I don't rat is because that particular day or week might have been a really bad one, I don't know it! Sometimes this happens to me, I might be experiencing or having a really bad week and am just not up to doing the work that week. I try to do what everyone else in my group did, but sometimes it's just not to their standards and I will apologize for not giving it my all.
