Not sure when we are suppose to stop posting to this site, but this is my last and final posting!
I hope you all had a great year in HCOM 310, because it was very enlightening to me, especially because it gave me a new understanding and a different perspective of what you younger students think about. Some of you guy's posting were extremely deep and meaningful, I just hope that whenever you read my--you might of thought the same thing. What I would've of really like to seen done with the blogging--is that we each had to comment to everyone's blog page at least once during the semester--that way at least everyone would have had one comment on their blog page. But again I hope everyone has a great summer--hope to see you next fall semester and to those of you graduating or moving on to other schools --the best of luck to you in whatever you choose to do!

College Experience ! !
the end of the semester seems to have come to a near draw, as I sit hear and ponder exactly what will I do this summer--I realize that I have so many opportunities get plenty of work done before my travels to Cuba happens. I know most of you plan on going home for the summer and working at some part time job making money to spend on things you deem important to you. Other's of you will stay here and work and work is important especially if you are trying to make ends meet--in today's economy! But when the next semester starts think about what it is you are going to do to improve your resume while at CSUMB! What I mean--apply for internships, do volunteer work on campus or apply for the many opportunities afforded to you all by the university--such as Otter leaders, student government leaders, RA/CA's--because believe it or not most jobs and graduate schools look at what you did while achieving that BA's degree and it's not all about the grades-sure they help but they want to know if you will make a good supervisor, leader or even team player. So this summer think about what else you can do while on campus in the Fall semester to improve your resume for the future!

Traveling to Cuba
This summer I will travel with Pastors for Peace to Cuba to help rebuild an area of the country that was devastated by last years Hurricane. I think it is our responsibility as students to participate and get involved in what happens to people around the world and not just locally! I can't wait till July 1st arrives, because the journey of a lifetime will began and I am going to document every moment of it with photography and by writing into journals of what I am learning not only about myself but about others. I am a bit concern though because we will be traveling through Mexico in order to fly from Tampico, Mexico into Cuba, especially with the scare of this swine flu. My concern is that the organization I am traveling with will decide to cancel the trip to Cuba via Mexico because the impact of the swine flu will not have diminished by then. I am not in lest concern about getting the flu, I believe that if you take precautions before hand such as the flu shot and wearing masks and also insuring that before one travels to be in good health, so that you aren't liable to become sick. On the other hand I only have to contend with family and in-laws who believe that my traveling to Cuba is a wrong thing for me to do considering my age. I believe my age has nothing to do with it--I should be able to travel and do volunteer work in other places--like Cuba. My mother, sister and brother believe that if I travel to Cuba--my husband will divorce and leave me. My in-laws believe that I am being unfair to my husband my asking him to help me pay for this venture. We have tried telling them both my my husband isn't leaving me or divorcing me and telling my in-law that we are not paying for the entire trip--we are doing some fundraising and will get assistance to help pay for the trip. So my question to you guys is do you think that because of my age I should stay home and not do this type of volunteer work in Cuba?
